ABOUT “ WHO ARE YOU” THE PLAY

There are moments in one's life that are so riveting and realigning as to make them worthy of being studied and shared.

“Who Are You?”  speaks of this moment in my life, one of great transformation and personal evolution.  I have studied this story endlessly and I share bits and pieces of it all the time.  Over the years, I have been asked to write this story as a Ted Talk,  a novel, a spiritual guide and I have reams of efforts made to those ends.  But  I am an actor, after all, and I know the value of gathering together in a theater, quieting the outside world and listening as a story is told and received.

Time provides perspective but it also allows for life to knead us further into an understanding of greater truths.  What I thought I understood about my own story shifted in 2017, and perhaps continues to shift.  Life does ask that we bend ourselves to it with fluidity and confidence that something bigger is perhaps occurring, something we may not yet be able to see.

The silence and stillness that was 2020 invited inspiration and allowed focus in a way I had not known since the days of school holidays. In the bleak days of Covid,  I quietly built this play, and wrote the songs and the poetry that inhabit the work.

I suppose that one could say that I am most fascinated by two things, the power of truth to align a human being to their purpose,  and the power of love to assist us in those moments when we simply cannot do it alone.
