Shareen Mitchell is an American actress born and raised in NY and Cairo. She is a graduate of Smith College and is a proud and active lifetime member of The Actors Studio. In the theatre she has most loved working at The McCarter Theatre under the direction of Emily Mann, at The GeVa Theatre under the direction of Anthony Zerbe, and at The Laurel Grove Theatre under the direction of Barbara Bain. Her work in "Tennessee in the Summer" at The Laurel Grove garnered her an Ovation award nomination for best actress.
Her favorite leading roles in films are as "Diane" in " American Heart", with Jeff Bridges, and as "Dolly" in "Brooklyn Roses", directed by Christine Noschese. In 2018 and 2019, "Brooklyn Roses" was nominated and won as best Docu- Feature in numerous national and international film festivals.
On television Shareen has played leads as a series regular, recurring and guest star. Her most favored roles are as "Lucy" Tony Danza's wacky and adorable ex wife in " Hudson Street" and “ Virna” Shawn’s mom on “ Boy Meets World” both on ABC.
Shareen developed a side gig selling vintage clothing. Shareen Vintage became one of the most notable vintage stores in America. Shareen was pursued to do reality by CAA and along with The World of Wonder created the reality show “DresscueMe at Shareen Vintage”. “DresscueMe” was bought by Discovery and aired on Planet Green in 2011. It sold in 12 international markets to Fox Live. Today, Shareen designs wedding dresses for a select few brides. It is creative work that she absolutely loves.
Shareen’s first play, “ Code Name Triumph” a one act, was performed during The New York Theatre Festival in November 2021. “Code Name: Triumph” concerns a nine year old little girl and the imaginative way she manages her daily escape from an abusive home.
Shareen’s second play is full length and contains 6 songs. “Who Are You” is a story of loss and recovery that celebrates women and speaks of a path to purpose. “ Who Are You” was produced in LA by the first non-profit theater to hear the work. It is soon to go under option by the first commercial producers to hear it. The play has garnered rave reviews both for its writing and for the performance by Shareen.
In 2020, Shareen and her sister Oriana started Two Sisters Media in order to make stories into films that might inspire and speak to issues of justice and redemption. Today they are in pre-production on three projects, “ The Team ”, “ Honolulu “, and “ A Tantalizing “. “ A Tantalizing “ is based on the play, “ A Tantalizing “ written by William Mastrosimone. The play is adapted for the screen by Shareen Mitchell, director Frank Military is attached.
